This passed weekend we had our annual Halloween party. As usual, it was a great time. Our guest Fred was the life, or should I say death, of the party. He was part of our main attraction which was our “Dead Body Buffet”.
Dead Body Buffet
In order to make a dead body buffet you’ll have to purchase a few molds. The face, hand and heart molds are all from Jiggle Wiggle, purchased on Amazon.
To make the head I used the Flayed Man Cheese Ball recipe from Allrecipes. It is an easy and delicious recipe that will surely gross out your guests. In this particular mold I had to double the recipe. I didn’t use saran wrap to line the mold. Just spray it with cooking spray and line it with the prosciutto. Be sure to tightly pack the cheese into the mold so the prosciutto will stick to it when you unmold. Once set, just lightly pull on the sides of the mold to get air inside. This will allow the head to come out of the mold. Instead of olives I used 1 Mozzarella ball, sliced in half, with black food coloring to make the eyeballs. Serve with Crackers.
Flayed Man Cheese Ball
Fred’s hand is a ranch vegi dip served with a mix of vegetables. Combine two 8 oz. bars of cream cheese, 1 packet of Hidden Valley Ranch Original Ranch salad dressing and seasoning mix and 1 tablespoon of Hidden Valley Ranch Original Ranch dressing in a bowl. Mix well and scoop into the mold. Unmold once it hardens. For a more lively skin tone add a little orange food coloring to your mix.
The intestines is nothing but a very long pig in a blanket. I used this cute Slithering Snake recipe from Hungry Halloween and changed the shape to intestines. Serve with mustard and ketchup in a stomach shaped medical basin. ($5.99 on Amazon) This was the first appetizer to go so you might want to make double.
What dead body is complete without heart worms??? These gelatin blood worms are fun to make. Dissolve 2 packets of raspberry gelatin into 1 cup of boiling water. Once room temperature add 3/4 cup of heavy whipping cream and 15 drops of green food coloring. I buy the 100 pack of straws in the cardboard box. Open the top and tear the flaps off. Put the straws (still in the box) into a tall cup, or something that gives a tight fit, and pour the gelatin into the straws. Once firm, remove each straw and run quickly under hot water to loosen. Remove the worms by squeezing them out of the straws.
